My name is Natalie Cozens. My son Cody's life will never be the same due to a catastrophe that took away his chance of a normal life. Cody is seventeen and before this happened he was a hard-working, active boy. On September 13 last year I took him to hospital as he was suffering severe abdominal pain.

 

This turned out to be life threatening and as a result Cody lost most of his small intestines and over half of his large intestines - as a  result Cody has to be fed directly into his veins using a hickman line and a special solution called total parental nutrition or (TPN) - unfortunately being fed this way carries huge life threatening risks, mainly line infections of which Cody has had five and now his vein access is limited - there is six veins available for TPN use and Cody has three left.

 

Another vein infection may kill him so his options are not great - He will eventually need a high risk, low survival rate, small intestine transplant, plus probably liver transplant as well, as for some reason TPN is hard on the liver causing eventual liver failure.

 

I would like to thank The Healing Hands Trust on behalf of Cody and myself for the wonderful donation of $2000.00 which has gone into his transplant/medical fund plus the ongoing prayer - At the moment Cody is stable and happy and prayer is such a powerful thing and I feel it working in our lives.
